Now open: Collision Repair and Automotive Refinishing Qualification Review Consultation

Industry leaders in collision repair and automotive refinishing – we need your expertise!

We’ve been reviewing a suite of qualifications for the Collision Repair and Automotive Refinishing sectors to determine if they are still fit for purpose.

Through our Qualification Advisory Group (QAG), made up of industry subject matter experts, and provider representatives, you’ve told us there could be better ways of supplying your sectors with quality, qualified graduates.

We are proposing the following qualifications:

  1. New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Collision Repair (Level 3) [60 credits] [Ref: New]
  2. New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Refinishing (Level 3) [60 credits] [Ref: New]
  3. New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Collision Repair (Level 4) non-structural repairer, with optional strand in structural repair technician [120 – 200 credits] [Ref: 3011 v2]
  4. New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Refinishing (Level 4) [160 credits] [Ref: 3009 v2]
  5. New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Collision Repair Advanced Industry Specialist (Level 5) [70 credits] [Ref: New]

We want to ensure the qualification content is relevant and representative of the industry’s needs while meeting New Zealand Qualification Authority requirements.

The development of these qualifications is designed to have non-structural repairers, structural repair technicians, or automotive refinishing technician trade apprentices graduate at Level 4. Plus, a new Level 5 has been developed with the aim of the graduate contributing to the success and competitiveness of a collision repair or automotive refinishing business.

If you work in this industry or are a provider, do you think this suite of qualifications will meet your industry’s skill and knowledge requirements?

Tell us in our two short surveys before they close at midday on Friday 19 May and help us confirm that these qualifications reflect what is needed now and in the future.
