Hanga Aro Rau WDC is seeking a new Council member

Hanga Aro Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council is seeking a new Council member

Ko te mauri o te tangata, ko te ora o te iwi. The lifeforce of the individual is the lifeblood of the people.

The new Workforce Development Council is enabling industry to have a greater leadership role in vocational education. Our governance has strength in diversity, and this reflects our need to understand the many layers and diversity of our industries (both small and large), stakeholders and Te Tiriti partners (including hapū and iwi).

Honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi is an all of organisation kaupapa and responsibility. As a member of Council you will help us to transform a system that needs to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, clearly have regard to the needs of Māori and advocate for the industries of Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics.

Expressions of Interest are invited from industry leaders with governance experience who have whakapapa Māori, and want to play a part in leading the industry-led Workforce Development Councils and creating new futures for all learners.

The Council particularly welcomes applicants who have direct experience of vocational education and training and/or have an understanding of the experience of disabled people in employment and employers of disabled people.

For further details about the roles, the governance and leadership skills being sought, and the information pack go here.

Applications close on Monday 29 November 2021.

Workforce Development Councils are new entities being set up to ensure industry and employers can have a strong voice as part of the unified vocational education system. They will provide skills leadership, set standards, and develop qualifications. Workforce Development Councils will moderate and endorse the suitability of programmes that lead to relevant qualifications that both learners and industry need now and in the future. They will also provide vocational education investment advice to the TEC.
